HSB Patinated Singing Bowls are hand-hammered in the Kathmandu Valley and finished to create an aged, antique-style appearance. They use the same base as our 7 Metal Singing Bowls: primarily bronze, approximately 80% copper and 20% tin, with the five other traditionally associated metals present only in trace amounts.
What is a patinated singing bowl?
Patination is a surface-finishing process. The darkened and varied appearance is intentionally created after the bowl has been made; it should not be interpreted as proof that the bowl is antique or naturally aged. Small variations in colour and texture are normal and make each handmade piece visually unique.
- Same HSB bowl base: the alloy and hand-hammered construction are the same foundation used for our standard 7 Metal range.
- Aesthetic finish: we do not claim that the patina improves the sound. Size, shape, thickness and individual hammering remain the main factors affecting the bowl’s fundamental note and sustain.
- Handmade in Nepal: produced by HSB and its artisan team in the Kathmandu Valley.

Choosing the right size
Smaller bowls are portable and generally produce higher fundamentals. Larger bowls provide lower fundamentals, more projection and stronger physical vibration. Each piece is handmade, so note and weight vary slightly within the stated size range. Wipe the bowl gently with a soft dry cloth. Avoid polishing products, abrasive cleaners and prolonged moisture, as they may alter the patinated finish.
