Leather Stick

Introducing our handmade leather stick. Made from a harmonious blend of high-quality wood and supple leather, our stick is crafted in the tradition of Newari artisans of the Kathmandu Valley. The wood used for these sticks is carefully selected to ensure solidity and durability. The premium-quality leather is adapted for singing bowl strokes, allowing you to reveal the deep vibrations of your bowl. Striking singing bowls with these ringers produces higher-pitched tones.

The ergonomic design ensures a comfortable grip, allowing you to easily explore its musical capabilities. The stick is available in sizes small, medium, large, and extra-large, with diameters of 25mm, 30mm, 40mm, and 50mm, respectively. Below are some of the basic techniques for playing a singing bowl.

Rimming Technique

Hold the bowl securely in your palm, ensuring it vibrates freely.

Using the ringing stick, apply consistent pressure while moving it clockwise along the bowl’s rim.

Experiment with the leather surface, adjusting the speed, angle, and pressure until you achieve your desired tone and volume.

Use your arm for even pressure, avoiding reliance solely on your wrist.

Striking Technique

Hold the bowl on your palm or a ring cushion, ensuring it vibrates freely without any hindrance.

Strike the bowl’s rim from the side using either the wood or leather surface.

Avoid striking too low or from above, as it can affect the bowl’s vibration.

The intensity of the tone depends on your striking force; strike moderately to prevent metallic and unpleasant sounds.
