Handmade Flat Wind Gong from Nepal
The HSB Wind Gong is a flat bronze gong handmade in Nepal. Unlike a Chau or Cho Gong, it has no folded rim. At the same diameter it is lighter and generally more accessible in price, which can make transport, suspension and installation easier.
How a Wind Gong Sounds and Responds
The flat profile usually responds quickly and produces a clearer, spreading wash of sound. A Chau/Cho Gong, with its folded edge, often develops a deeper and more powerful response. These are practical tendencies rather than fixed rules: size, thickness, mallet, strike point, suspension and room acoustics all influence the result.

Choosing the Right Size
- Smaller rooms: prioritise controllable volume, safe playing distance and a stable stand.
- Group sessions: choose enough projection for the room without placing listeners too close to the gong.
- Transport: consider the combined diameter, approximate weight, stand and protective packing.
- Playing response: test the gong with a suitable soft mallet and allow the sound to decay before judging it.
Every handmade gong can vary slightly in colour, hammer marks, exact dimensions and acoustic response. Decorative designs do not guarantee a particular pitch or therapeutic effect.

Playing and Safety Advice
Begin with controlled, moderate strikes and increase intensity progressively. Keep sufficient clearance around the suspended gong, use a stable stand and avoid sudden loud strikes close to listeners. This product is a musical instrument; it is not presented as a medical treatment.
